HTC and HVC coincide for March

The HTC and HVC for March are coinciding themes related to state changes.

The Hypnotic Video Challenge for the month of March is the HAPPY FINGER PROCESS.

The process is very simple and very very straightforward. Participants can use deep trance or hypnosis or simply waking suggestion to accomplish their goals. All you have to do is create a positive state change using the "happy finger" process.

There are some videos that participants and others may find helpful on the challenge explanation page.  See "challenge" at http://www.trancesociety.org for more information.

The Hypnosis Technique Challenge for the month of March is the HAPPYNESS AND PLAYFUL STATE CHANGE PROCESSES.

For those who would like to participate, create and post an original process, technique, imagery, or script that guides a person into a playful, joyful, or happy state.  It can then be setup as a trigger response or anchor or simply as a single-session concept.  Have fun with this.

This month's Hypnosis Technique Challenge coincides with the theme for the Hypnotic Video Challenge.

Submissions to this month's challenges may be for any context of trancework: therpeutic, educational, entertainment, recreational, and more, although the process needs to be based upon the happy finger technique.

Be sure to submit your entries before the last day of March 2008.  Just post them to the Hypnosis Technique Exchange.

The HTC and HVC are community building activities sponsored by the Society of Experiential Trance and the Hypnosis Technique Exchange.

Periodically, we will set a challenge for folks interested in practicing, demonstrating, comparing, sharing, or just plain participating for the fun of it. We will name a Hypnotic Video Challenge Theme and those interested should go out into the world - within the month of the challenge - and perform the technique with willing volunteers. All communication and hypnosis should be real, nothing should be staged.

In keeping with the emphasis of the Hypnosis Technique Exchange and the Society of Experiential Trance on innovation, creativity, and sharing of new techniques and trance ideas (see the SET webpages and note how most specialization certificate qualifications include the creation of "original" techniques or processes) . . . periodically, the group owner of the Hypnosis Technique Exchange will announce a theme or topic for the HYPNOSIS TECHNIQUE CHALLENGE. Group members are encouraged to post their own original techniques, scripts, or patters related to the challenge topic within the month of the challenge. Discussion of submissions is encouraged.

Themes for the HYPNOSIS TECHNIQUE CHALLENGE may coincide with the themes for the HYPNOTIC VIDEO CHALLENGE, but this is not always the case.

The challenges are meant to be in good fun . . . a way of encouraging innovation and community rather than a contest . . . so don't take it too seriously but do participate. The purpose is to encourage participation rather than hard core competition.

Remember, you can participate in the HYPNOSIS TECHNIQUE CHALLENGE and the HYPNOTIC VIDEO CHALLENGE . . . go to the Society of Experiential Trance webpages at http://www.trancesociety.org for the current HVC theme and then you can post it directly to the Hypnosis Technique Exchange - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypnosisTechniqueExchange - and share it with thousands of hypnotists immediately.

Ideally, the video for the HVC should be shot within the month of the challenge (although archive footage is acceptable, preferably shot within the previous few months prior to the challenge - please do not use archive footage more than a year old) as this is an activity to encourage ongoing participation, not sitting on our laurels. If possible, do place a production date within your videos.

If possible, please include title cards in your video with the Hypnotic Video Challenge and the theme title. You are encouraged to also include your name and a link to your webpages. Optionally, you may wish to include a link to the Society of Experiential Trance webpages where the challenge video themes are archived (you do NOT need to be a member of the SET to participate, although SET members who participate in a challenge receive one Continuing Education Credit for each participating video).

Most challenges can be done with anyone you are comfortable working with, while some require that you work with a new trance partner. Participants are encouraged to be playful and creative with their submissions. When you have accomplished your "task" upload the video footage to youtube, google video, or some other online video service and email Brian David Phillips at phillips@nccu.edu.tw with the URL for your video, just as a headsup. Then post the video URL to the Hypnosis Technique Exchange (please put HYPNOTIC VIDEO CHALLENGE or HVC in the subject line).

Folks who are technically challenged will be helped as much as possible. At the end of the challenge month, all of the participating videos will be placed together on the monthly challenge page for folks to view. Folks are then free to discuss the challenge videos on the Hypnosis Technique Exchange. While most folks who participate will video several variations of their entry with different folks, multiple entries are limited to five videos and each entry video in a month must be with a different trance partner. If you wish to share more videos in a month, we are happy to put a link to your video server account or webpage housing the rest of your videos. Of course, all entries will include participant's name and webpage in the identifying text.

Please keep in mind, this is not a contest. The Hypnosis Technique Challenge and the Hypnotic Video Challenge are participatory activities intended to foster a sense of community and encourage participation. Of course, it is also an opportunity for skill enhancement through participation and viewing as well as a basis for technique discussion.

Go to the Society of Experiential Trance webpages at http://www.trancesociety.org (under "challenge") for full details and the current theme as well as a listing of past and upcoming themes.

Participants are encouraged to be playful and creative with their submissions.  Upload your video to any of the various free video server sites. You may wish to have your video permissions set on youtube or video google or wherever set so that webpage embedding is allowed.  Then post the video URL to the Hypnosis Technique Exchange . . . most of all, have fun!

Of course, non-challenge participation and discussion is also encouraged. Please remember, this is YOUR group and so the caliber of discussion is only as good as YOUR participation.

All the best,
Brian

SUGGESTIBILITY HYPNOSIS FUN . . .
. . . hypnotic video challenge

The Hypnotic Video Challenge for the month of April at the Society of Experiential Trance is SUGGESTIBILITY HYPNOSIS FUN.

This month's challenge is for participants to go out into the world and have some Suggestibility Hypnosis Fun. Take a so-called suggestibility test and convert it into a hypnotic induction or a waking hypnosis session. Participants are encouraged to be playful and have fun.

See the previous posting of several Imaginative Suggestibility Games for inspiration.

Submissions to this month's challenge may be for any context of trancework: therpeutic, educational, entertainment, recreational, and more, although the process needs to be related in some way to an imaginative suggestibility game used either as an induction into formal trance or as a bridge setup for a session of eyes-open waking hypnosis.

Be sure to submit your videos before the last day of April 2008.

Some of the previous challenges may provide some inspiration as will some of the future challenges (see the Society of Experiential Trance webpages) while the following are some videos that participants and others may also find helpful:

Rapid Progressive Relaxation

Happy Balloons

Finger Magnet Variations

Handclasp

Balloons and Rocks

Hot and Cold

Arm Catalepsy

Ideomotor Pendulum

Lemon Lemon Lemon

Energizer

The video challenge is a monthly community-building theme-based activity sponsored by the Society of Experiential Trance and the Hypnosis Technique Exchange in which hypnotists are encouraged to submit a video of themselves filmed within the month of the challenge in which they use or demonstrate a trance process based upon a common theme.  Folks may submit up to five videos each month, as long as they are with different subjects and demonstrate different processes related to the theme.  It's NOT a contest but a participatory activity.

EXPERIENTIAL HYPNOSIS FUN . . .
. . . hypnotic video challenge

The Hypnotic Video Challenge for the month of May at the Society of Experiential Trance is EXPERIENTIAL HYPNOSIS FUN.

This month's challenge is for participants to go out into the world and perform processes that engage folks in some form of Experiential Trance. This may be any hypnotic, NLP, or trance process that engages the trance partner's imagination so fully that they experience the suggestions as if they are actually happening rather than as imagined events - effects can be physical or more intricate emotional-imagery setups. Participants are encouraged to be playful and have fun.

See the previous discussions of Experiential Hypnosis (the articles on the Vicarious Experiential Machine are particularly relevant).

Submissions to this month's challenge may be for any context of trancework: therpeutic, educational, entertainment, recreational, and more, although the process needs to be related in some way to experiential rather than merely imaginative or light trance-based imagery.

Be sure to submit your videos before the last day of May 2008.

While some of the previous Hypnotic Video Challenges may give you a few ideas for approaches, the following are some videos that participants and others may also find helpful:

HYPNOTIC VIDEO CHALLENGE . . .
. . . changes and updates

Folks . . . make a note that I have made some changes to the HYPNOTIC VIDEO CHALLENGE . . . I wanted to make it more interactive and less dependant upon me archiving materials . . . so, from now on there is no need to email your URL to me.  Instead you can post it directly to the Hypnosis Technique Exchange and share it with thousands of hypnotists immediately.  Be sure to put HYPNOTIC VIDEO CHALLENGE or HVC in the subject line so folks know what to look for.  Yes, the activity is still sponsored by the Society of Experiential Trance, but membership is never required to participate.  The HYPNOTIC VIDEO CHALLENGE is not a contest, there is no prize as it is a community-building activity.

Rapid Progressive Relaxation Induction

The theme for this month's HYPNOTIC VIDEO CHALLENGE is for folks to demonstrate INSTANT/RAPID PROGRESSIVE RELAXATION HYPNOSIS INDUCTIONS.  I opted for the rapid variation:

This was the initial induction from the session and once I went through the sequence I used the ol' Happy Balloons effect as a convincer and deepener.

The classic induction typically takes twenty minutes to as long as an hour or more to induce hypnosis. The rapid variation is around three and a half minutes or less. Note the use of hypnotic phenomenon after the induction itself.

To participate in . . . or for more information about . . . the Hypnotic Video Challenge sponsored by the Society of Experiential Trance - http://www.trancesociety.org - just go to the Challenge category and check the theme challenge for January 2008.

ANXIETY, FEAR, PHOBIA AND MORE . . .
. . . hypnotic video challenge

The Hypnotic Video Challenge for the month of June at the Society of Experiential Trance is FAST PROCESSES FOR ANXIETY, FEAR, PHOBIA, AND MORE.

Most of the hypnotic video challenges related to straightforward trance technique without any requirement for changework or therapeutic processes. This month is a bit different. One of the hallmarks for hypnosis and neurolinguistic programming is the ability to help folks overcome phobia, fear, anxiety, and more much more quickly than other changework modalities. There is ample evidence that suggests such processes are more effective for longterm change than other modalities (see http://www.nlp.de/research for some such studies). While most of the excitement regarding this area is with the Fast Phobia Cure process from NLP, folks participating in this month's challenge need not find themselves limited to this approach. Feel free to use anything from the neurolinguistic programming processes to hypnosis to emotional freedom techniques, to 3D Mind, to Dr. Deepak Vidmar's Calm Ball, the Sedona Method, the Journey, Bastthought, Metamagick, to any other trance-based changework process or even something completely new. Creativity is encouraged. The process should be demonstrated as a single-session approach. There is no time limit for the session video, although most folks will likely run well under fifteen minutes and most will be less than ten and certainly a number of valuable processes are five minutes or less.

Submissions to this month's challenge may be for any context of trancework: therpeutic, educational, entertainment, recreational, and more, although the process needs to be related in some way to anxiety, fear, phobia, or the similar issues. Please do be aware of your local laws in regard to trancework or changework of this type. If therapeutic change is controlled in your locality, then please stay well within your local laws, whatever they may be.

Be sure to submit your videos before the last day of June 2008.

RAPID/INSTANT PROGRESSIVE RELAXATION . . .
. . . hypnotic video challenge

The Hypnotic Video Challenge for the month of January at the Society of Experiential Trance is RAPID or INSTANT PROGRESSIVE RELAXATION HYPNOSIS INDUCTIONS.

The theme came out of a discussion at the Hypnosis Technique Exchange in which some folks took the position that it is impossible to perform a Progressive Relaxation induction as a rapid or instant effect because the two are mutually exclusive in that they believe that the nature of the progressive relaxation approach by definition must take twenty minutes or even longer while rapid inductions are hypnosis induction processes that take four minutes or less. Others disagreed. So, this month's challenge is to put the question to the test . . . participants should demonstrate Progressive Relaxation inductions within four minutes or less.

Submissions to this month's challenge may be for any context of trancework: therpeutic, educational, entertainment, recreational, and more.  They need only use a process that in some way employs a progressive relaxation within a hypnotic context.

Be sure to submit your videos before the last day of January 2008.

The following are some videos that participants and others may find helpful:
