I had some inquiries of late regarding to the Experiential Ecstasy processes I demonstrated at a recent workshop and how they apply to folks who like to have a good time chemically but who would like to avoid the actual chemicals of getting high or drunk.
As many of you know, I have a bit of experience with this sort of thing . . . okay, more than a bit . . . more like a dozen hypnotons of experience with this sort of thing in a whole slew of contexts . . . as a therapy, as an entertainment, and for recreation . . . so I posted a response which I will repost here as it's something a number of the readers of Life of Brian might find of interest . . . (those of you reading this on a stream without the embedded videos will really want to go to the blog page now).
You're really way overthinking this. How are you with using self-hypnosis to enter trance? Just run the process and go there. For the pleasant relaxation and loving waves thing . . . see the energizer process I ran in a couple of the videos I posted about earlier. Once you have the principles, the process is fairly straightforward.
While the high or drunk response itself would be considered deep trance and that is ideal, you can elicit it from a waking state which then creates a deep trance state (deep trance is more about levels of intensified imaginative involvement than relaxation anyway . . . see some of the examples below.
Getting drunk or high or experiencing the effects of mood altering drugs without the drugs but with suggestion is extremely simple and very straightforward. You may want to google the "drug of choice induction" that appears in one of Grinder and Bandler's books (there is a description of it in the archives at the Hypnosis Technique Exchange . . . http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypnosisTechniqueExchange . . . although you don't actually have to use that particular approach. One variation that is very simple is to simply induce hypnosis (real hypnosis not light trance relaxation) and then suggest whatever altered state you are interested in creating. I use this approach in clinical sessions with folks who are wanting to kick the drug habit but want the buzz more appropriately and in my shows for entertainment (in which case I will typically use drunk or high patter but you can substitute ANY emotional or psychedelic effect if you prefer - even creating specialized mental drug cocktails - I've done some rather fun things with that).
You do NOT need to start with a formal closed-eyes induction. I run waking hypnosis eyes-open processes for getting drunk all the time.

Note that I suggest that there are no negative side effects ("it's not going to make you sick but you're getting drunker and drunker") this is how Frank Santos used to use the effect as his stage show induction (R-Rated shows typically).
