Bookstore Now Online

We've added a bookstore to our webpages.  You can go directly there via the pages at http://astore.amazon.com/shakespeareeclec or just click on the bookstore link in the sidebars here or at our main pages at http://www.briandavidphillips.com for convenient access.

Not a lot there right now, but we will be adding new products and categories over time (I probably will just have the one bookstore for all of my interests instead of several small stores for different sites and just expand the categories).

It will be easier to keep everything under one roof that way.

If there's something you feel I really must list that's available from Amazon, the let me know and I'll consider adding it).  I will likely material sent to us for a reveiwer here in a category here and in the bookstore as well so it's easier for folks to access.

All the best,
Brian

Literary Penis

The penis has been a source of fascination and inspiration from time immemorial. Literature is filled with references to large penises. Here you will find gathered a number of interesting ones from Terry Pratchett to William Shakespeare and more.

Vintage Paperback Covers

Vintage Paperbacks is a wonderful collection of cover art for old pulp style paperbacks. Some of the artwork is thrilling . . . a lot of it is risque as fits the period. A couple of the novels featured are among my favorites (Philip Jose Farmer's Flesh among them, albeit I have unfortunately lost my copy long ago).

Quite Possibly One of the Most Important Books Ever Published

An Insider's Guide to Robert Anton Wilson by Eric Wagner is on deck and waiting to be read, or devoured as the case may be. I got a heads up on this book from Kevin Dilmore, an important author in his own right who I would strongly encourage anyone and everyone to read. Kevin and I have known each other for years upon years upon years and have greatly enjoyed making Robert Anton Wilson references in the presence of others with that secret thrill when one shares a deep and meaningful secret with another while in the oblivious presence of others. Wilson is very very important. His ideas are very much worth the read and anyone interested in critical theory should be bathing in his words. Whenever anyone asks me who my favorite author is, Robert Anton Wilson is it . . . it's now a knee-jerk reaction to just spit out his name along with a rather interesting trigger-response conditioned sort of joy at being reminded of his pieces. If you are one of the folks unfamiliar with Wilson, I should point out that while you may not know of the guy, you no doubt have read novels, seen movies, or listened to music heavily inspired by him. There are allusions to his work all over the place. Folks from economics to neuorlinguistic programming to hypnosis to literature to critical theory to social dynamics to space travel quote and allude to him often and repeatedly. The guy is basically a kaptain prolific in more fields of endeavor than most humans should be allowed to work in. I have read and loved his work since I was a high school kid . . . yes, long ago when dinosaurs walked the Earth . . . and still get a thrill of anticipation when a rumor is floated that a new piece is coming out. I imprinted my rather powerful fixation on big-breasted redheads while recovering from major surgery and reading his Schrodinger's Cat series (the orignal printings). I like to think of my wife as my own Miss Mao as well (no, Mao as in cat, not the other way). Wilson is as important as an author can become and still be a secret from the general populace. If you haven't read him, don't you think it's about time you should?

The Reprint of Lynne Cheney's Racy Novel Pulled . . . lesbian frontier, anyone?

The publisher of a novel by Lynne Cheney has canceled the reissue as the Second Lady says it doesn't represent her best work. Some are saying the lesbian theme and the racier bits might embarras the Bush-Cheney ticket as the continue to cater to conservative voters - particularly as homosexual marriage becomes an issue.

See a humourous take here and some excerpts here.

Not Writing What You Know

This is a whole lot of interesting . . . well, to me anyway.

Read This Guy . . . Read Him Now . . . Or Soon . . .

My buddy from high school . . . way back when . . . Kevin Dilmore is a big time author now. He writes a lot of Star Trek stuff professionally. Well worth your looksee. He's also a good guy. Really . . . he's probably one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet . . . and smarter than the average genius to boot. Kevin and I belonged to the same group of nerdy D&D players, off to comic book conventions, Star Wars movies, and the like. He's managed to take his obsession with Star Trek and turn it into a real life career. Can't do better than that. Good guy gone better.
