Back on YouTube

Well, I have decided to get my virtual buns back on youtube . . . so . . . despite the limits to file size and length, I will upload my shortish video pieces to the youtube page Brian David Phillips on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/briandavidphillips, so those of you already on youtube can go ahead and add me to your list.

The longer pieces (such as the long hypnocast episodes) will still be at google video but the under-ten-minute clips will all go to youtube from now on.

Facebook Pages for Brian David Phillips

Well, in an effort to make a distinction between my "public" and "private" personae, I've opened up a facebook pages profile . . . Brian David Phillips . . . this is not the same as my private profile where I have to approve friend requests. This public page does not require that I approve you if you wish to become a "fan" or not. This is where I will begin posting free content and keep folks posted on professional goings on. So, if you're on facebook already, go ahead and click on the "fan" link in the upper right. You will not regret it as we've got some nice things in motion just for the folks who use that system. We have nice stuff in motion for everyone else too . . . but, some particularly nice bits for the facebook fans are in play.

So, my Literature and Film students at the university are now beginning their leg of the original film adaptation of a folk tale, legend, myth, or short short fantasy story.  In order to help them, here are some example videos from students past:

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends and family back in the US and elsewhere. Heck, Happy Thanksgiving to anyone and everyone else too! We didn't celebrate today (the joys of living in a foreign land - albeit, it does have perks). However, we will be celebrating our Thanksgiving by seeing Beowulf in 3D at the IMAX theatre on Saturday. In preparation, we watched a short cartoon version of the story with Kaye tonight (the same version I showed my students at the university) and then after the glorious bloodfest on Saturday, we'll probably find some time for her to see The Thirteenth Warrior as that's a nice version too.

WALKABOUT TRANCE STREET HYPNOSIS . . .. . . hypnotic video challenge

The February Hypnotic Video Challenge at the Society of Experiential Trance is for the theme of WALKABOUT TRANCE STREET HYPNOSIS which explores playful use of trance and hypnosis out and about in the real world.

This month's challenge is for participants to go out into the world and perform some Walkabout Trance or Street Hypnosis. This may be any hypnotic or trance effect with strangers out in public based upon a cold walkup. You should not know the person you perform the trance or hypnosis effect with. Entries may range from covert to overt.

Submissions to the challenge are due by the last day of February 2008.

The video challenge is a monthly community-building theme-based activity sponsored by the Society of Experiential Trance and the Hypnosis Technique Exchange in which hypnotists are encouraged to submit a video of themselves filmed within the month of the challenge in which they use or demonstrate a trance process based upon a common theme. Folks may submit up to five videos each month, as long as they are with different subjects and demonstrate different processes related to the theme. It's NOT a contest but a participatory activity.

Participants are encouraged to be playful and creative with their submissions.  Upload your video to any of the various free video server sites. You may wish to have your video permissions set on youtube or video google or wherever set so that webpage embedding is allowed.  Then post the video URL to the Hypnosis Technique Exchange . . . most of all, have fun!

Sedition and Treason in Bridge?

Tecnically, in American law, it is neither sedition nor treason to voice one's opinion that you disagree with a president or that you did not vote for that president . . . evidently it is in bridge . . . poor taste or not is a different question . . . certainly, the contoversy is more than it should be . . . see here.
