RAPID/INSTANT PROGRESSIVE RELAXATION . . .. . . hypnotic video challenge

The Hypnotic Video Challenge for the month of January at the Society of Experiential Trance is RAPID or INSTANT PROGRESSIVE RELAXATION HYPNOSIS INDUCTIONS.

The theme came out of a discussion at the Hypnosis Technique Exchange in which some folks took the position that it is impossible to perform a Progressive Relaxation induction as a rapid or instant effect because the two are mutually exclusive in that they believe that the nature of the progressive relaxation approach by definition must take twenty minutes or even longer while rapid inductions are hypnosis induction processes that take four minutes or less. Others disagreed. So, this month's challenge is to put the question to the test . . . participants should demonstrate Progressive Relaxation inductions within four minutes or less.

Submissions to this month's challenge may be for any context of trancework: therpeutic, educational, entertainment, recreational, and more.  They need only use a process that in some way employs a progressive relaxation within a hypnotic context.

Be sure to submit your videos before the last day of January 2008.

The video challenge is a monthly community-building theme-based activity sponsored by the Society of Experiential Trance and the Hypnosis Technique Exchange in which hypnotists are encouraged to submit a video of themselves filmed within the month of the challenge in which they use or demonstrate a trance process based upon a common theme.  Folks may submit up to five videos each month, as long as they are with different subjects and demonstrate different processes related to the theme.  It's NOT a contest but a participatory activity.

Participants are encouraged to be playful and creative with their submissions.  Upload your video to any of the various free video server sites. You may wish to have your video permissions set on youtube or video google or wherever set so that webpage embedding is allowed.  Then post the video URL to the Hypnosis Technique Exchange . . . most of all, have fun!

Moving Day Cometh!

Finally! We are "officially" moving this Thursday and Friday . . . the trucks will show up Thursday morning while I'm in class and Lorraine will be directing everything. When I get home I will continue to pack, pack, pack, and a furious pace as the trucks are filled.

Thursday is big item move day and Friday is move everything else day.  We'e also moving the piano on Thursday (albeit with professional piano movers).  We moved Kaye's keyboard already and she packed most of her other instruments earlier (she's got quite a collection and will finally have space to properly display and care for them - did I mention her new room is huge?).

Friday night will be spent in the new house (albeit, very likely a mess) and the weekend will be spent unpacking, unpacking, and more unpacking.

Finally!

I'm not looking forward to walking up and down all those stairs everyday but the new place is going to shape up into a nice home for us.

2257 Unconstitutional

The 6th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that 2257 is Unconstitutional. For those unfamiliar, 2257 is the set of record keeping and other rules that have been placed upon producers of adult entertainment material that limits to a large scope what can be produced or how it is distributed or how records are kept. The rules were slipped into the language of the Adam Walsh Child Obscenity Act ostensibly to protect children but in fact have very very little to do with stopping child pornography, children's access to adult entertainment or any of the things it was supposedly setup to protect but instead have been used as an excused to limit legitimate adult entertainment. In fact, there are far more direct and effective child protection measures in place, many of which have long been endorsed by the legitimate adult entertainment industry. The 2257 "solution" from the get-go has been about "saving the hens from the fox by shooting the donkey" sort of a solution, one thing does not lead to the other. This whole thing has been an issue tainted with the pushing of limited and specific politico-moral agendae from the beginning rather than one based upon sound legal or even logical argument.

The current ruling will likely not be the end of the matter as the 6th circuit court has a limited scope of practice (as do all circuit courts) but the unconstitutionality argument was very strong and the judges on the panel are considered very bright and reasoned individuals.

Please do NOT get me wrong . . . while I am very much against 2257, it does not follow that I am for child pornography or worse (I support very heavy penalties for such things) . . . nor does it mean that I do not believe the adult entertainment industry should not have any oversite (it should, just as any industry does but no more than do other industries) . . . 2257 has nothing to do with protecting children and everything to do with controlling and severely limiting the legitimate production of adult entertainment by consenting adults for consenting adults.
