Hey, Brian,

Hope you don't mind; I put up one of your 'wobble' pictures at my site.

Peace,
nAgUaL

My wife and I are a bit uncomfortable with someone else putting that image on their site and we both would rather you not use any of the wobbles of her or the kids elsewhere. If you want to use one of my wobbles, you may use one of me - the spock vulcan sign or the one with my finger up my nose are both humorous. If you do use one of my wobbles, please include a link to my webpages and acknowledge the source.

BTW, have you stopped emailing the current passwords to the scan collections? I haven't received an update in a loooonnnngggg time.

All the best,
Brian

Hello group.... As I sat in on the Walkabout Trance weekend in Hermosa Beach today, Brian suggested that I repost to his site something that I had posted to another site a few hours earlier... so here it is. In context, the original post had to do with a magic effect called the PK effect, and the poster wished to know how it was done and was it "real" hypnosis or not.. As a professional magician and performing hypnotist, I know a little bit about BOTH.. so here is my response:

MUCH of what is passed off in the "Entertainment World" as hypnosis is not hypnosis in the "classical" sense of the word... and much of what is foisted upon us as " Psychic " ability is simply Magic Trick or Mentalist trick... but TRICK none the less.

If you research the history of "MAGIC", you find that all of the effects we see TODAY have their roots in the "MYSTIC" past and were passed off as REAL MAGIC POWER.. or PSYCHIC POWER.... or even better... SPIRITUAL POWER and a connection to GOD! The first Magicians did things NOT to entertain the people, but to make the people BELIEVE that the SHAMAN had special powers or a connection to god/goddess or the spirits etc.. in order to gain favor with the tribe.. or have power over the tribe or king/ruler.

Today.. we use the same techniques to gain favor over the audience. Be it a one on one setting with a beautiful girl or a full house of paying customers who just want to have some FUN. Its Still the same effect... just with a cool new setting and story line.. maybe some new cool props and a flashy suit.. and MOST of the time people realize it is just a trick. Though I STILL have people tell me that Chris Angle is doing "REAL" magic or David Blain actually did bring a fly back from the dead or float above a group of people on a new york street before he rose up to heaven with a host of angles singing in the clouds around him.. opps.. wrong story. But you get the picture now don't you!

PK factor.. good stuff.. Cold Reading.. even better if you want the audience to actually BELIEVE in your powers.. Pick a card any card... not so much.. but a lot of fun when you play it right. As I like to say.. the REAL magic happens in the mind and the heart of my audience. When I can create a FEELING or an emotion in my audience, THAT is the real magic.. and it doesn't really matter to me if I am using magic props... psychic props.. mentalist props.. hypnosis props or just the sound of my voice.... THAT is the real magic.

Looking forward to Bancock.. just not this time....
